Are you accomplishing the task God has given you to do? - April 18, 2008 - A lighthouse along a bleak coast was tended by a keeper who was given enough oil for one month and told to keep the light burning every night. One day a woman asked for oil so that her children could stay warm. Then a farmer came. His son needed oil for a lamp so he could read. Still another needed some for an engine. The keeper saw each as a worthy request and measured out just enough oil to ...

9 Million Lost (unclaimed) People! - January 10, 2008 - Now here is a thought...there are 9 million unclaimed (lost) people in the Pacific Northwest. Acorn Bank Breaking! - October 19, 2007 - Do you still do Acorn Bank breaking? The WVMC does and they have a great deal of fun - for the young and slightly older ones. We have a man in our West Valley church that constructed this pretty cool "machine" for bank breaking. The kids love using it and the people get to watch it without getting hit by acorn shrapnel. If you would like to get back into the Acorn Bank ministry you can contact ...

Time to Eat! - October 02, 2007 - When we (George Vrieze and myself) were at Green Community Church on September 23 - Rev. Lance's installation service, we enjoyed a wonderful potluck! I realize everyone talks about how the "church" always seems to be eating! Well I must admit the food at GCC was TERRIFIC! But what I enjoyed most was the conversations around the table! Getting to know the people at GCC was the highlight of the ...

How is your worship? - September 10, 2007 - Every once in a while it is good to examine our worship services. Is the music to loud? Are we singing songs that encourage others to worship? Is there a nice flow to the service? Have we fallen into a rut or meaningless ritual? I wanted to let you know of a GREAT resource person we have in our district. Ted B. Wilson has come to our church and helped us with a number of issues regarding our ...

BLOG - The Bigger Picture! - September 04, 2007 - This last week I was in the Fort Wayne for special meetings with other District Superintendents and President Bill Hossler. It was a great time of sharing out visions for our districts. Being only in this role since July 1, 2007 - I have not had a definite, clear vision for the district. Obviously there were some areas I have identified as needing attention. But I was struggling with an ...
